My Simple Guide to PodcastingI run 2 shows. And Now Live From and the Sunday Service |
To podcast or not to podcast that is the question.
I'll be honest took me a while to find out all the information I needed to know..
1. Get yourself Itunes (this is free). Then put all the music you want on a podcast in it. Oh if you are using Windows Media Player great. But some tunes will not transfer over!
2. Get yourself Pod Producer (this is also free). A very simple mixing desk. You can put music from itunes in to the top half. A very simple open a folder and click on the music. Then in the lower half you need to put "wav" files. This is the section for jingles etc.
3. Get yourself a microphone. Ok I'm using a £1 microphone with head piece from poundland (you can probably tell!).
4. Get yourself Sound Recorder (this is very free as it came with your computer). This creates all my jingles. Ok I simply put my Poundland mic and headset in . Got my kids to speak in the mic. Then if the sound wasn't loud enough. I turned it up. easy.
5. Ok you are ready to go. Simply get 2 tracks and place them in the upper half (this makes sense when you have pod producer open). Then with your jingles that you've downloaded or saved from Sound Recorder place these in the lower half. (make sure you click on the tree NOT the open file!!)
6. As for settings. I've used mono mixer at 16 kps. This produces what you heard in the 2nd of my podcasts. I'm going to try a stereo mix and let you know. Getting the levels right I am also guessing comes with playing with it more.
7. Getting your Podcast Out there!!! Get yourself a blog at www.blogger.com or if you want to pay you could go www.typepad.com. Set it up as you want making sure you have set up it up to produce a site feed. (email me if you want to know more)
8. Done this great. Then click on Feedburner First. Put in your atom.xml address. For example my atom feed is www.itsyourdisco.co.uk/nomis/atom.xml. Feed burner then changed this to http://feeds.feedburner.com/co/andnowlivefrom. ALSO make sure in the options you have said you want Podcasting!! Nearly there...
9. So the feedburner feed is the one you need to concentrate on and remember ok. Now go to sites like Podcasting News, Podcast Alley and Podpickle. Sign up and away you go. They will register you and put your feed out there.
10. Obviously you want a feed at Itunes!! So click on your itunes button and open up the Music Store. Click on Podcast and then add your Podcast. Now use your feedburner link ok.
Tra la.
Hope this helps
